The Money has toured to five continents and played at such charged and prestigious venues as Sydney Opera House, UK Houses of Parliament, Lagos City Hall, Lisbon City Hall, Victoria Parliament, City of London’s Guildhall, and many others. In collaboration with our partners from the new European Cultural Diplomacy Platform, we bring The Money to Amsterdam for the first time.
Spend The Money on whatever you want. Be as creative as you like. We are proud to jointly host this evening in the framework of our 2018 edition of the Global Cultural Leadership Programme (GCLP). During the GCLP, the Cultural Diplomacy Platform annually gathers 40 outstanding cultural managers from around the world for a week of cultural exchange and joint learning experiences. Together, our participants co-create the global cultural collaboration networks of the future. And of course, they will be playing The Money with you!
The Money is a cross between a game and a theatrical performance. You can choose to be either a Player and, or a Silent Witness and watch. Become a Player by donating as much as you can. Work with other Players to decide what to spend the group’s money on. You have 1 hour to come to a decision. If you don’t decide unanimously in the allotted time you relinquish your privilege to spend The Money and The Money rolls over to the next group of Players.
If you’re the quiet observing type you can become a Silent Witness and watch as the group of Players attempt to decide how to spend The Money they’ve donated. And if you want to voice your opinion you can always become a Player and buy your way in.

The results of an evening with The Money may be as taut as a thriller or as ludicrous as a farce, but beneath it all you’ll be asking: are there really any values we can agree upon? Is a common groundthe most uncommon thing of all? And ultimately, what is the most interesting thing we can do together that we couldn’t apart?
