The Idea Camp brings together 50 Idea Makers: creators, technologists and educators – who work in an open, sharing and collaborative environment on the development of ideas that will shape our cities. Speakers include Michel Bauwens, founder of the P2P Foundation, and urban anthropologist Dr. Jayne O. Ifekwunigwe, who have talked about how commoning practices can have a positive influence over societies and urban living. The master of ceremony was Dougald Hine.

Here is a glimpse of some of the questions that were tackled at the Idea Camp 2015 by Idea Makers from a wide spectrum of different sectors who have come together from more than 20 countries across wider Europe: 

• How to use open source/open data to match corporate construction ‘leftovers’ with community building project needs in Spain?
• How to start a commons policy-making charter for Europe?
• How to push bottom-up change in urban planning by engaging communities with public parks in Moldova’s capital Chisinau through open-air film screenings?
• How to make a point about sustainability through greening the conference building area at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris?
• How to make sure children in the city have rights to access the city in future?
• How do migration and integration issues create a need for new business models and services, like starting a refugee-run garden kitchen that sells to restaurant owners in Gaziantep, Turkey?
• What do new financing models for housing schemes across Belgrade and southern Europe look like? 

On the third day (25 September) of the Idea Camp, the programme was open to wider participation. Some of Europe’s most engaged foundations, local policy makers, opinion makers, city developers and cultural and civic organisations have debated how to “Build the City” together.

We have created a Lab on our online community platform ECF Labs which links to online videos and texts - resources that deal with issues related to the Commons, the City and Culture. A unique collection of material by speakers and collaborators of the Idea Camp 2015.
