Europe: À la recherche du temps perdu?

ECF director Katherine Watson has written a piece on EFC's blog series EFC@25 - 25 thoughts - 25 philanthropists. Here is the opening: 

25 years ago Europe was at one of its many crossroads. 25 years ago I was neither living in Europe, nor working in the philanthropic sector. The European Cultural Foundation (ECF) was definitely here though and had been since 1954 when it was founded by Denis de Rougemont and other leading European thinkers who firmly believed that Europe has to be more than coal and steel, more than an economic or industrial alliance – to quote Robert Schuman: “Europe needs a soul”. Culture should be at its heart.
