Rien van Gendt is Deputy Chair of the ECF Board and Vice President of ECF, and a fellow of the Major Alliance responsible for the area of refugees and migration. On 15 February 2017 in The Hague, during an afternoon of discussion organised by the Bernard van Leer Foundation and the Major Alliance, Dr Van Gendt gave a brief speech highlighting the importance of investing in the children of refugees and of taking on a long-term approach focussing on potential rather than deficits.
